Casa Baretto Cremorne Point
Bringing space to a bayside retreat
Interiors, Residential
The apartment’s long, narrow layout and dated, segmented floor plan presented significant challenges. To overcome these, the design focused on opening up the space, starting with the kitchen. By removing the walls around the kitchen, an open-plan kitchen and dining area were created, bringing in natural light and fostering a sense of spaciousness. A versatile storage wall was introduced, serving multiple functions—on one side, it features a fold-out bar perfect for entertaining, while the other side offers a home office desk. This intervention continues along the wall, evolving into a media unit and display shelves in the living room, providing ample space for the couple’s art, travel treasures, and other knick-knacks.
A simple yet cohesive material palette was chosen to unify the apartment. Birch plywood, marble, and white cupboard fronts with discreet pulls were used throughout, creating a clean and contemporary feeling while ensuring the space remains warm and inviting. The result is a home that feels open and connected, with each element carefully considered to enhance daily living.
Finally, the addition of a bar on the outdoor terrace is the perfect spot for enjoying a quiet moment or entertaining guests while looking out over the beauty of Cremorne Bay.
