Our design aims to create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living, drawing inspiration from the family’s love of the outdoors, which they developed during their time living in Southeast Asia.

The new rear extension extends the home into the northern and eastern setbacks, creating ample outdoor spaces where the family can dine, relax, and spend time together. A central courtyard, framed by a double-height curtain glass wall, serves as a private oasis, shielding the family from the gaze of neighbouring properties on three sides. The courtyard is designed to offer both an outdoor shower for rinsing off after a swim or surf and an internal circulation spine that connects the living areas with the upstairs parent’s retreat and an additional bedroom that doubles as a home office and guest room.

The second-story addition is carefully sculpted to complement the original heritage home. The design aims to increase the home’s amenity and floor space while maintaining a scale and massing that respects the character of the original structure. The outcome is a harmonious blend of old and new, where the family can enjoy both the comforts of modern living and the charm of their heritage home.
