The house is designed to serve as a private sanctuary for healthy living as well as social hub for entertaining and hosting friends, family and neighbours. Two courts puncture the volume of the house, acting to draw an abundance of daylight and natural ventilation deep into the floor plate, while the ground level is elevated to stay clear of flood levels and provide storage beneath. Facing the street, operable slatted screens moderate the western sun and create an ever-changing frontage.
