Acknowledgement of Country

Adriano Pupilli Architects respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work; the Gayamaygal people and Yuin people. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. This is, was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Shelly Beach Amenities

Simplicity by the shore

Landscape, Public

Our new amenities building at Shelly Beach enhances a cherished gathering point along the Northern Beaches coastal walk, within the nationally significant Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. Our design revitalises a once dilapidated facility, increasing its functionality while preserving the iconic beauty of the beach.

The building is designed to serve the diverse needs of its many users—divers, ocean swimmers, beachgoers, surfers, café patrons, dog walkers, and joggers—while also acting as a welcoming gathering spot. It hosts male and female amenities, change rooms, enclosed shower cubicles, and separate accessible WC/shower and family change spaces.

The structure is carefully positioned to preserve two existing palm trees and features external communal areas, including hand wash stations, outdoor showers, and foot wash taps. Built-in bench seating fosters a social and inclusive atmosphere and pairs seamlessly with the nearby kiosk, making this facility a fitting addition to a site beloved by so many.
